A stowaway managed to board a Delta Air Lines flight from New York’s JFK Airport to Paris, evading detection until the plane was nearly at its destination.
The flight, which was fully booked, departed JFK at 11:00 PM on Tuesday and landed in Paris around 11:00 AM the following day. Passengers were instructed to remain seated upon arrival as law enforcement was called to handle the situation.
The stowaway, believed to be a woman, managed to bypass security and flight attendants by hiding in one of the plane’s lavatories. Flight attendants grew suspicious after noticing the individual repeatedly hiding in the lavatories for long periods. A TSA spokesperson confirmed that the stowaway passed through security without a boarding pass, bypassing two identity verification and boarding status checks before boarding the plane.
Delta Air Lines has launched an investigation, emphasizing safety and security, and is collaborating with law enforcement.
This incident follows a similar case in March, where a man sneaked onto a Delta flight in Salt Lake City using a stolen boarding pass and was later charged with a national security crime. In both cases, the individuals had cleared TSA security.
