A Kentucky judge, who was shot and killed in his chambers by a former sheriff, was allegedly involved in a sextortion scheme, according to a witness in a separate criminal case.
Sabrina Adkins, a defendant placed on house arrest, claimed in a police interview that she had seen videos showing U.S. District Judge Kevin Mullins engaging in sexual activities with women in exchange for special treatment. These allegations were part of a larger complaint in a civil lawsuit Adkins filed, where she accused former sheriff’s deputy Ben Fields of coercing her into sexual acts in Mullins’ chambers while she was on house arrest.
Adkins described how she had been coerced into providing sexual favors for Fields in exchange for being allowed to remain on house arrest without paying fees. She also claimed that Mullins’ chambers were used as a secret meeting place for Fields and other officials, as there were no surveillance cameras. The allegations were discussed in a recent court hearing, with Stines’ defense attorney emphasizing the role of the civil lawsuit and the police interview in the defense strategy for the former sheriff.
Stines, who allegedly shot Judge Mullins after a confrontation, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a public official. The full details of what led to the shooting remain under investigation.
