President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Kimberly Guilfoyle, a longtime ally, as ambassador to Greece.
In a Truth Social post, Trump praised Guilfoyle’s leadership in law, media, and politics, highlighting her qualifications to represent the U.S. abroad.
Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host, was heavily involved in Trump’s 2020 campaign and has been a surrogate at recent Republican National Conventions. She also testified before the House Jan. 6 panel.
Guilfoyle, who is engaged to Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., accepted the nomination, which is subject to Senate confirmation. She expressed excitement to support Greek allies and further the Trump agenda.
This nomination follows a pattern of Trump appointing political allies and family connections to key positions.
Recent appointments have included Massad Boulos, the father-in-law of Tiffany Trump, and Charles Kushner, father of Jared Kushner. Though such appointments are common, they have often faced criticism.
The practice traces back to early U.S. history and continues to be debated, particularly regarding the Federal Anti-Nepotism Statute.
