The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced changes to its immigration visa process, effective January 1, 2025.
Under the new directive, applicants with scheduled interviews will need to visit the Consulate General in Lagos twice during the visa application process.
The embassy shared the update on its official X page, explaining that the change aims to help applicants prepare for interviews and minimize processing delays.
The first visit will involve an In-Person Document Review with consular staff to ensure all necessary documents are in order. This step allows applicants to address any missing paperwork ahead of their interviews.
The second visit will be the formal visa interview with a Consular Officer, with dates set by the National Visa Center (NVC).
Applicants who fail to complete the document review before their interview will have to reschedule their appointment.
