Mariah Carey will kick off Netflix’s NFL Christmas Gameday on December 25, reinforcing her title as the Queen of Christmas. She will perform a taped rendition of her iconic holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” before the two football games on Christmas Day. This performance marks Netflix’s major foray into sports programming.
The games will feature the Kansas City Chiefs, the reigning Super Bowl champions, playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the Baltimore Ravens facing the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. ET. In addition to Carey, Beyoncé will perform a live halftime show during the Ravens-Texans game. With Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, playing for the Chiefs, there’s speculation that she might be in attendance.
Carey, who just completed her largest Christmas tour yet, is celebrating the 30th anniversary of her classic holiday album Merry Christmas, which includes the chart-topping single “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” This song has been certified 16-times platinum by the RIAA, making it the highest-certified single by a female artist.
The Christmas Day games will be available on Netflix, broadcast TV in the competing team cities, and on NFL+ for mobile users in the U.S.
Netflix’s NFL Christmas Gameday is part of a three-year deal with the league, which will also include at least one holiday game in 2025 and 2026. The deal reportedly cost Netflix around $150 million.
