President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to “end transgender madness” on the first day of his presidency, signaling plans to introduce significant changes impacting transgender rights in the United States.
Speaking in Phoenix, Arizona, Trump outlined measures to limit transgender recognition and participation, including:
Officially recognizing only two genders: male and female.
Signing executive orders to ban gender-affirming medical procedures for minors and to exclude transgender individuals from the military and educational institutions.
Prohibiting transgender women from competing in women’s sports.
“There will only be male and female in America. I will sign executive orders to end child sex reassignment procedures, remove transgender individuals from the military, and keep them out of elementary, middle, and high schools,” Trump stated at the AmericaFest conference for young conservatives.
He further promised to “protect women’s sports,” declaring it would become official U.S. policy to recognize only two genders.
