Turkish Airlines has officially earned a Guinness World Records title for flying to the most countries globally, a recognition it has held since 2012 but is now officially acknowledged by Guinness World Records.
The record was celebrated with a certificate presentation at Santiago Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL) after the airline’s inaugural flight to Chile.
The ceremony included Turkish Airlines executives and Guinness World Records representatives.
According to Guinness World Records’ evaluation criteria, Turkish Airlines achieved this milestone by operating flights to 120 countries, based on active routes over the past year.
“We are thrilled to be in Santiago, Chile, our newest destination, and to receive the Guinness World Records title for the Most Countries Flown to by an Airline. As the only airline to hold this distinction for over a decade, we proudly highlight the strength of our network and our commitment to connecting people, cultures, and destinations worldwide,” said Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi on December 20, 2024.
Currently, Turkish Airlines operates in 131 countries, maintaining a 30-country lead over its closest competitor.
Talal Omar, VP of MENA and Turkey at Guinness World Records, remarked, “Today, we celebrate Turkish Airlines for its vision and excellence in aviation. This extraordinary achievement affirms its essential role in the global aviation landscape, connecting more international destinations than any other airline. We congratulate Turkish Airlines on this remarkable accomplishment and officially declare them ‘Officially Amazing.’”
