Former President Bill Clinton has been hospitalized in Washington, D.C., after developing a fever, according to a statement from his deputy chief of staff, Angel Ureña.
Clinton, 78, is receiving testing and observation at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Ureña said Clinton is in good spirits and appreciates the care he is receiving.
A source close to Clinton described the situation as “not urgent” and reassured that the former president will be fine. The source added that Clinton was awake and alert, seeking medical attention after developing a fever.
Clinton, who left office in 2001, has experienced several health issues over the years, including a quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 and a heart procedure in 2010. He was also hospitalized in 2021 for a urological infection that spread to his bloodstream.
Despite his health challenges, Clinton has remained active, campaigning for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and recently releasing a memoir about his post-presidential life. He also delivered a speech at the Democratic National Convention in August, expressing uncertainty about how many more conventions he would be able to attend.
