MacInnes portrayed Rebel pilot Jon “Dutch” Vander, also known as “Gold Leader,” in the original Star Wars film. His performance was later reused in the 2016 prequel Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The family noted that MacInnes held a special connection with Star Wars fans, expressing his gratitude for their admiration and enjoying interactions at conventions.
Beyond Star Wars, MacInnes had a prolific career, appearing in films such as Superman II, Rollerball, Hellboy, Eyes Wide Shut, Hellbound: Hellraiser II, Captain Phillips, Judge Dredd, Strange Brew, and the Vikings TV series on the History Channel.
