The Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja has announced that, effective January 1, 2025, physical visa applications will no longer be accepted. Instead, all applications must be submitted online via the official e-visa platform.
Passport holders from Nigeria, Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé and PrÃncipe, and Chad residing in these countries are eligible to apply for an e-visa through the embassy.
“Once approved, applicants will receive a confirmation email. This email must be printed and presented to the airline at departure and to Thai immigration officials upon arrival,” the embassy stated.
Visa processing typically takes up to five working days but may take longer in certain cases. Applicants must provide travel booking confirmations, including return flight details, and are advised to apply 4-6 weeks before their travel date but no more than three months in advance.
The embassy noted that visa fees are non-refundable regardless of the outcome and may change without prior notice. Additionally, applicants may be required to submit further documents or attend interviews.
Providing false information or documentation will result in immediate rejection and possible further action.
The transition to the online system will mark the end of in-person submissions at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja after December 20, 2024.
