Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, experienced a brief disruption on New Year’s Eve when customs officials conducted a raid on the Amazon founder’s $500 million yacht. The vessel, named Koru, was sailing near St. Barts when the search took place. According to reports, Sánchez was sunbathing on the top deck as the inspection began.
Customs officers boarded the yacht, dressed in uniforms with black life jackets, and spoke to a stewardess, who appeared to guide them during the process. Despite the presence of officials, the search was described as “routine,” and it didn’t seem to disturb the guests onboard.
Bezos was reportedly not aboard at the time, though Sánchez’s ex-partner, NFL Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez, was present. The two share a 22-year-old son, and Sánchez has mentioned that Gonzalez remains one of her “best friends.”
Bezos, 60, who has four children with his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, recently became engaged to Sánchez in 2023. He also dismissed rumors of a lavish $600 million wedding in Aspen, denying the reports on social media and urging caution about believing everything in the media.
