Catherine, the Princess of Wales, shared on Tuesday that she is in remission from cancer, following the completion of her chemotherapy treatment months ago.
“It is a relief to now be in remission, and I remain focused on my recovery,” Kate, wife of Prince William, the heir to the throne, posted on Instagram.
“As anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis will understand, adjusting to a new normal takes time. However, I am looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to, and I’m grateful for everyone’s continued support,” she added.
The princess also expressed gratitude to The Royal Marsden Hospital for the care she received. “We couldn’t have asked for more,” she said.
In March, Kate made a surprise announcement revealing her cancer diagnosis and the preventative chemotherapy she was undergoing, following her medical team’s advice. Her announcement came shortly after King Charles III revealed his own cancer diagnosis and treatment. The palace clarified that although doctors discovered his condition after an enlarged prostate was detected, he does not have prostate cancer. Neither Kate nor Charles has disclosed the specific type of cancer they are battling.
Since her diagnosis, Kate has made several public appearances, including attending the men’s final at Wimbledon with her daughter Charlotte, 9, in July. She also hosted the fourth annual “Together at Christmas” carol service at Westminster Abbey last month, with her children—Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 6—joining her.
Charles has also resumed public duties, attending events like the D-Day memorial services in France and embarking on a tour of Australia and Samoa with Queen Camilla in October.
The health challenges faced by both Kate and Charles have underscored the increasing workload on a smaller royal family, as King Charles looks to reduce costs. With fewer working royals, other family members, including Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward, have had to take on additional responsibilities.
