President Donald Trump announced yesterday that he was saved by God from assassination attempts during his campaign for a second term, as he was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. He pledged swift and transformative actions, including deporting millions of undocumented immigrants and “criminal aliens,” deploying military forces to the southern border to curb illegal migration, declaring a national energy emergency to boost drilling and combat inflation, and reversing what he called America’s decline. He also vowed to recognize only two genders as official U.S. policy.
Trump stated his election victory was a mandate to undo past “betrayals” and restore the nation’s wealth, democracy, and freedom. “The golden age of America begins now. From this moment, American decline is over,” he proclaimed.
On immigration, Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border and promised to halt illegal entries while deporting millions of undocumented individuals. Regarding gender identity, he announced that U.S. government policy would define gender strictly as male or female, ending what he described as efforts to socially engineer race and gender.
Trump also promised to overhaul trade policies to protect American workers, impose tariffs on foreign countries, withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord, and reclaim control of the Panama Canal. He emphasized expanding domestic energy production, blaming overspending and high energy costs for inflation, and launched the slogan “Drill, baby, drill.”
The administration plans to end birthright citizenship, which grants citizenship to children born on U.S. soil, by interpreting the 14th Amendment differently. White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly explained that children of undocumented immigrants would no longer receive automatic citizenship under the administration’s clarified policy.
Global leaders reacted to Trump’s inauguration. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed hope for strong transatlantic relations, while Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau emphasized cooperation between the two nations. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s pro-Israel stance and anticipated strengthening the U.S.-Israel alliance.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the opportunity to work closely with Trump again, while European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stressed collaboration on global challenges.
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed openness to talks with Trump on the Ukraine conflict, emphasizing the need for lasting peace. He welcomed Trump’s commitment to avoiding World War III and congratulated him on his inauguration.
Pastor William Kumuyi of the Deeper Life Bible Church prayed for Trump’s leadership, asking God to grant him wisdom and strengthen the church’s role in the nation’s governance. Kumuyi also prayed for unity, revival, and righteousness within the church to support the president effectively.
