A Florida man discovered the severe repercussions of sharing his thoughts online when he was arrested for allegedly making violent threats against President Trump.
Shannon Depararro Atkins, 46, was taken into custody on Friday night after a tip-off, with authorities reporting that Atkins confessed to posting the threats. On January 19, the day before Trump’s second-term inauguration, Atkins allegedly posted on Facebook, “America needs one good bullet to be saved.” He also claimed to have been banned from Elon Musk’s X platform after stating, “I hope and pray someone kills him,” referring to Trump, and mentioned that “history is supposed to repeat itself” due to the lack of recent assassinations.
The next day, he reportedly posted again, urging, “Bullets please. Please Jesus! Save America,” accompanied by a meme calling inauguration day a “day of mourning.”
Atkins was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on Friday during a traffic stop in West Palm Beach, where police allegedly found cocaine in his possession. He now faces charges of drug possession and written or electronic threats to kill, injure, or commit an act of terrorism, which is a second-degree felony. He remains held at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Main Detention Center.
