Several powerful Arab nations have firmly rejected former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt and Jordan. In a joint statement, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, the Palestinian Authority, and the Arab League opposed any plans to transfer Palestinians from Gaza or the occupied West Bank, warning that such actions would destabilize the region and hinder peace efforts.
Trump had suggested resettling Gaza’s population—temporarily or permanently—following the devastation caused by Israel’s war with Hamas. However, Arab leaders, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, dismissed the idea, emphasizing that the only solution is the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The Arab nations also underscored the importance of international efforts to rebuild Gaza and reaffirmed their support for the UN agency UNRWA, which has been banned by Israel. They fear that forcing Palestinians out of Gaza would prevent their return and create economic and security challenges for neighboring countries.
