On Tuesday, President Donald Trump announced that he has instructed the dismissal of all U.S. attorneys appointed by his predecessor, Joe Biden.
Trump criticized the Department of Justice, claiming it had become highly politicized under Biden’s administration.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “I have directed the firing of ALL remaining ‘Biden Era’ U.S. Attorneys” and emphasized the need to “clean house” to restore confidence in the justice system. The typical practice when a new president takes office is to replace the U.S. attorneys, who are the chief federal law enforcement officers in each district.
Several Biden-appointed U.S. attorneys had already stepped down after the November election, anticipating their replacements.
The Justice Department has undergone significant changes since Trump’s presidency, with many high-ranking officials being removed, reassigned, or demoted.
