The U.S. Postal Service announced that Betty White, the legendary TV star, will be honored with a commemorative stamp in March.
White, known for her roles on “Golden Girls” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” entertained audiences for over seven decades.
The stamp, set for release on March 27 in Los Angeles, features an image of White based on a 2010 photograph.
The USPS highlighted White’s lasting popularity, particularly among younger generations, and her advocacy for animals. Additionally, the Postal Service revealed plans to release a stamp honoring musician Allen Toussaint, alongside other new designs featuring art and natural landmarks.
Lisa Bobb-Semple, USPS’s stamp services director, emphasized the agency’s dedication to offering a wide array of stamp designs that appeal to collectors and enthusiasts alike.
White’s career spanned from early daytime talk shows to iconic roles in sitcoms like “Life With Elizabeth” in the ’50s and “The Golden Girls” in the ’80s, as well as “Boston Legal” in the early 2000s. She passed away in December 2021 at the age of 99, just shy of her 100th birthday. When asked about her universal popularity, White attributed it to simply getting along with people and having fun.
