Bryan Kohberger may face execution by firing squad if convicted, and the father of one of the University of Idaho murder victims is actively pushing for Idaho legislation to allow it.

In a recent interview on Banfield, Steve Goncalves, father of victim Kaylee Goncalves, emphasized his commitment to ensuring justice. Following a judge’s rulings against Kohberger on February 19, Steve revealed that he is directly involved in advocating for execution by firing squad in Idaho.

When asked about the proposed method of execution, Steve stated, “I don’t just follow it—I help make it happen.” He explained that he has been in contact with Idaho lawmakers, including Bruce Skaug, who previously sponsored related legislation, to rally support for the measure.

Steve expressed his determination to raise awareness, saying, “If standing in front of a camera helps people understand the reality of what happened, I’ll do it. This was a brutal crime—people were murdered in their sleep—and if capital punishment isn’t justified here, then when is it?”

He also discussed his efforts to stay informed and proactive, noting that communication with the prosecution has been inconsistent. To ensure he remains up to date, he has sought independent legal guidance.

Reflecting on the case’s developments, Steve acknowledged the dedication of law enforcement officials, who he believes have been unfairly criticized. He emphasized that their work has been critical to the case and expressed confidence in the prosecution’s efforts moving forward.
