A rapper and his five-year-old daughter were tragically killed in a shooting at a car wash in North Texas on Monday morning. G$ Lil Ronnie, whose real name is Ronnie Smith, and his young daughter were ambushed by two suspects around 10:49 AM at Slappy’s Express Car Wash in Forest Hill, Texas, just outside Fort Worth. Police have issued an arrest warrant for one suspect, but have not disclosed his identity. Both Smith and his daughter were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the shooting appeared to be targeted. Witnesses reported seeing two suspects exit a four-door Kia before opening fire on the pair.
Smith’s aunt, Stella Houston, described him as a peaceful family man who didn’t cause trouble. She was particularly devastated by the loss, especially since his daughter had just celebrated her fifth birthday the day before.
Local resident Becky Johnson, who lives across the street, heard multiple rounds of gunfire and saw people fleeing the scene. Videos from the location showed several bullet markers and a vacuum still in Smith’s car.
This incident marks the fifth homicide of the year in Forest Hill, a city that had no murders in 2024. Local residents expressed concern about the rising violence, with one stating, “You’re not safe nowhere.” In response, Slappy’s Car Wash expressed shock and sadness, announcing they would close for at least two days following the shooting.
The Forest Hill Police Department has yet to provide further details.
