President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for Maiduguri Airport in Borno State to be upgraded to international status. The announcement was made on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare.
“President Tinubu has approved the elevation of Maiduguri Airport to an International airport, ensuring that each geo-political zone in the country now has one,” Dare stated.
The upgrade is set to enhance economic growth, improve travel convenience, and strengthen regional connectivity. These international airports accommodate both passenger and cargo flights, with MMIA serving as the country’s busiest hub for global air traffic.
Additionally, Dare revealed the commencement of operations at the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) in Abuja. “The African Aviation and Aerospace University, AAAU, has officially commenced operations in Abuja,” he announced.
