The Trump administration has allegedly prohibited nearly 200 words, such as “Black,” “racial justice,” and “anti-racism,” as part of its crackdown on “woke” ideology and opposition to DEI initiatives.
According to reports, a total of 199 terms and phrases have been banned as Trump seeks to undo policies implemented by Former President Joe Biden. The restricted words include “Black,” “anti-racism,” “discrimination,” “racial justice,” “diversity,” “trauma,” “at-risk,” “minorities,” “underprivileged,” “biased,” “climate science,” “women,” “female,” “socioeconomic,” “climate change,” “cultural heritage,” and more.
This isn’t the first time a presidential administration has restricted certain language.
In 2021, Biden prohibited terms like “illegal alien” and required that “Tribal” be capitalized when referring to Native Americans. Reports indicate that the Trump administration has already removed banned words from government websites and official documents. Additional restricted terms include “pregnant person,” “equality,” “inequality,” “sex,” “gender,” “LGBTQ,” “advocate,” and “institutional.”
Reports suggests that even more words may have been quietly banned but remain unreported.
