U.S. safety regulators have issued a recall for over 46,000 Tesla Cybertrucks due to a potentially hazardous defect, marking the eighth recall since deliveries began in late 2023. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) warned that a stainless steel exterior panel along both sides of the windshield could detach while driving, posing a serious risk to other motorists.
The recall affects all 2024 and 2025 model Cybertrucks produced between November 2023 and February 2025. Tesla will fix the issue free of charge using a more durable adhesive and additional reinforcements. Owners will receive official notifications by mail starting May 19, 2025.
This recall comes amid broader challenges for Tesla, including increasing competition from Chinese EV manufacturers and a sharp decline in stock value, down 42% in 2025. Meanwhile, the company has also faced vandalism and attacks on its dealerships and charging stations, with federal authorities recently arresting individuals in connection with these incidents.
For more information, Cybertruck owners can contact Tesla customer service or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline.
