President Donald Trump stated that he has “always” agreed with the official conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated former President John F. Kennedy but suggested Oswald may not have acted alone. During an interview aboard Air Force One with Clay Travis from OutKick, a conservative media outlet, Trump discussed various topics, including his views on Kennedy’s assassination.
When asked if he believed Oswald was solely responsible, Trump affirmed, “I do, and I’ve always felt that.” However, he also left room for speculation, adding, “Of course, was he helped?” Over the years, conspiracy theories have suggested Oswald may have had assistance from entities such as the CIA, the Mafia, the Cuban government, the KGB, or even the U.S. government—though existing evidence supports that he acted alone.
The discussion stemmed from Trump’s decision to release the remaining 80,000 government documents related to the Kennedy assassination, which had previously been withheld due to their sensitive nature. Despite expectations, the newly released files did not contain any major revelations but did inadvertently expose several individuals’ Social Security numbers.
Reflecting on the files, Trump commented, “I think the papers have turned out to be somewhat unspectacular, and maybe that’s a good thing.” The release is part of a broader effort by his administration to declassify high-profile investigations, including those related to Jeffrey Epstein, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Robert F. Kennedy, and the September 11 attacks.
