Buckingham Palace issued a statement late Thursday, explaining that after receiving “scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer” earlier in the day, the King experienced side effects that required a brief period of observation in the hospital. As a result, his afternoon commitments were postponed. The 76-year-old monarch is now back at Clarence House, but, following medical advice, his engagements for the next day will also be rescheduled as a precaution. The palace expressed His Majesty’s apologies to those who may be affected.
