Former President Donald Trump is reportedly organizing a military parade in Washington, D.C., to mark his 79th birthday on June 14, which also coincides with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, according to reports. A source in D.C. claims the parade is expected to span four miles, beginning at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and ending at the White House. Local officials say they were only recently informed of the potential event, with no formal requests yet submitted. Arlington County Board Chair Takis Karantonis noted that the White House gave a brief heads-up about the parade just ten weeks before the proposed date but provided little detail about its scale.
Coordinating such a large-scale military display would involve extensive collaboration among the six military branches, federal agencies, and local governments. Both the D.C. Mayor’s office and the White House have yet to comment publicly.
Trump previously attempted to hold a similar military parade in 2018, inspired by France’s Bastille Day celebration, but it was canceled due to its estimated $92 million cost. A scaled-down version took place in 2019 during the “Salute to America” event, which ended up costing more than double previous Independence Day celebrations.
