T-Mobile has just announced another price hike for its customers, adding to their financial strain this week.
The carrier began sending notifications via text this week, informing users that the Regulatory Programs & Telco Recovery Fee will increase next month. Starting April 23, 2025, the fee will rise from $3.49 to $3.99 per line for voice services, and from $0.50 to $0.70 per line for data-only services. This means most customers will see at least a $0.20 increase in their monthly bills.
T-Mobile clarified in a support document that the fee is not a government tax but rather a charge the company imposes to cover costs related to government mandates, compliance, and expenses passed on by other carriers for call delivery.
While these unexpected price hikes continue to raise questions, other carriers like Verizon and AT&T also charge similar fees, with Verizon’s “Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge” set at $3.50 per month and AT&T’s “Administrative & Regulatory Cost Recovery Fee” at $3.49. However, T-Mobile’s latest hike makes it the most expensive of the three.
