The U.S. Embassy has updated its visa interview procedures for Nigerian travelers, with new requirements set to begin on April 22.
As per the announcement, applicants in Abuja and Lagos will need to present a DS-160 visa application form with a confirmation/barcode number starting with “AA” followed by two zeroes. The barcode must align with the one used to schedule the appointment online, and any discrepancies will result in denial of entry into the consular section or the visa interview.
Applicants are advised to verify that their DS-160 barcode matches the scheduled appointment number at least two weeks before the interview. If there is an error, applicants should log into their AVITS account at least 10 days in advance to request a correction. Additionally, applicants must ensure they attend the interview at the location selected during the DS-160 process.
These changes are part of efforts to streamline the visa process. For any issues, applicants are encouraged to reach out to the visa call center for assistance.
