Sean Kingston was arrested on April 15 after failing to post a $100,000 cash bond, as reported by TMZ. The “Beautiful Girls” singer had been placed under house arrest following his conviction for federal wire fraud alongside his mother, Janice Turner, last month.
A judge deemed Turner a flight risk, taking her into custody, while Kingston was allowed to remain at home on the condition that he post the bond.
Kingston’s attorney, Zeljka Bozanic, confirmed that the bond has been posted and Kingston is in the process of being released.
The pair were found guilty of scamming victims out of luxury goods worth over $1 million, including jewelry, electronics, cars, and a microLED TV. Kingston allegedly used his celebrity status to pressure sellers into delivering the items before receiving payment.
Turner is accused of coordinating the delivery details, while the payments were made through fraudulent wire transfers. Kingston and Turner face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for July 11.
