Shoppers are facing higher prices on hundreds of popular items on Amazon, with prices rising by about 29%. The ongoing trade war, particularly with China, is causing sellers to struggle, leading to potential shortages as shipping costs continue to soar. Import tariffs, particularly those imposed on Chinese goods, have driven up costs for many products. As a result, sellers on Amazon are passing these increased costs onto consumers, causing price hikes on everything from electronics to home goods. Categories like apparel, jewelry, office supplies, and toys have seen significant price increases.

The situation is worsened by the broader impact of tariffs under the current administration, which has made importing goods from countries like China much more expensive.

Many Amazon sellers are caught in a difficult position, either raising prices or absorbing the added costs. This dilemma is especially challenging for those with thin profit margins. Sellers who rely on China for sourcing and assembly are particularly affected, but even U.S.-based merchants are feeling the pressure.

As the tariff battle intensifies, consumers may soon face even higher prices, especially as the trade war with China continues to escalate.

Meanwhile, Amazon merchants and businesses are scrambling to adapt, with some shifting production to countries like India and Mexico to avoid the steep Chinese import tariffs.
