The agents, previously in high-level roles handling counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and cybercrime, are now facing what insiders describe as demotions, as part of what appears to be former President Donald Trump’s broader campaign of retribution.
Conservative critics claim the kneeling photo is evidence of a liberal bias within the FBI. However, current and former colleagues argue the agents were acting to ease tensions during a volatile moment, not making a political statement. Several sources, speaking anonymously due to fear of retaliation, view the reassignments as part of Trump’s ongoing efforts to target those seen as part of a so-called liberal “deep state.”
