A tragic incident unfolded in Bauchi on Thursday with the brutal killing of Isa Muhammad Wabi, a 66-year-old former chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area. He was discovered in a pool of blood at his Fadaman Mada residence, located behind Government Girls Secondary School, around 4:00 a.m. following a distress call that prompted swift police response.
According to a statement released Friday by the police spokesperson, SP Mohammed Wakil, preliminary investigations indicate that Wabi was fatally stabbed in the neck by two individuals identified as Ahmad Abdulkadir (alias Abba) and Faruk Malami (alias Ajebo) — both alleged to be friends of Wabi’s 24-year-old son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed. The attackers reportedly broke into the house around 3:00 a.m.
Wabi was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries. One of the suspects, Ajebo, was also found unconscious at the scene, apparently beaten by an angry resident, and later died in hospital.
Wabi’s son, Abdulgafar, is currently in police custody and cooperating with authorities. The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, has visited the grieving family and assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway, pledging that all those involved will be held accountable.
