Prince Harry has expressed his desire for a reconciliation with the royal family, sharing that he would love to mend their relationship despite the ongoing tensions.
In a candid interview following his legal setback in the UK, he revealed that his father, King Charles III, has stopped speaking to him due to security concerns, and emphasized his wish to end the ongoing disputes.
Harry also expressed concern about his father’s health, acknowledging that Charles, 76, had recently battled cancer. Reflecting on the situation, Harry admitted that while there have been numerous disagreements, he has forgiven his family.
This interview came after Harry’s unsuccessful legal challenge on May 2, which sought to restore his security detail in the UK. Harry had argued that the decision by the UK government to strip him of his protection compromised his safety and that of his family.
The Duke of Sussex has been critical of the Home Office’s decision and its failure to apply standard security protocols. He had previously offered to cover the costs of his own protection but faced obstacles in securing a favorable outcome. Despite the court’s ruling against him, Harry remains determined to ensure his safety during future visits to the UK.
Harry also criticized the royal household for not addressing the security issue, suggesting that they intentionally avoided a thorough risk assessment. Buckingham Palace, in its statement, reiterated that the matter had been thoroughly examined by the courts, which consistently upheld the decision. Harry, who has made a return to public life alongside Duchess Meghan, continues to navigate the challenges of his post-royal life while also embarking on new ventures with his family.
