The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has launched a major three-part initiative aimed at streamlining access to benefits for survivors and dependents of deceased veterans and service members. The changes include moving the Office of Survivors Assistance (OSA) back under the VA Secretary for greater efficiency, creating a specialized “White-Glove” Survivor Outreach Team to guide families through the claims process, and expanding automation to speed up benefit delivery.
These reforms, which begin this month, are designed to cut through bureaucratic delays and ensure survivors receive faster, more personalized support.
VA Secretary Doug Collins emphasized that the goal is to remove red tape and provide grieving families with the care and assistance they deserve. Full implementation will roll out through 2025.
