The ringleader and seven others involved in the 2016 Paris robbery of Kim Kardashian have been convicted, though none will return to prison due to suspended sentences and time already served. The court acquitted two defendants accused of leaking Kardashian’s whereabouts.
Aomar Aït Khedache, 69, identified as the mastermind, received the harshest sentence of eight years, five of which are suspended. Despite the ruling, he won’t return to jail. Three others facing the most serious charges—Yunis Abbas, Didier Dubreucq, and Marc-Alexandre Boyer—were each sentenced to seven years, five suspended. Prosecutors had sought 10-year terms.
During her testimony, Kardashian recalled the traumatic ordeal, believing she was going to be “raped and killed” as masked men tied her up and locked her in a bathroom. The robbers, who called her “the rapper’s wife,” targeted her after seeing her jewelry on social media.
Kardashian expressed gratitude to French authorities and said the robbery left a permanent emotional scar. “I’ll never forget what happened,” she stated, “but I believe in growth and accountability.”
Khedache, now deaf and mostly mute, apologized in a written note, while Abbas also expressed remorse in court. Khedache’s DNA on the restraints helped crack the case, and wiretaps revealed him orchestrating the crime.
Only one item from the stolen jewelry—a diamond-encrusted cross—was ever recovered.
