Ray J has spoken publicly for the first time about his former mentor Sean “Diddy” Combs and the mounting sex-trafficking allegations against him, during a revealing appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
The 44-year-old R&B singer, known for his past relationship with Kim Kardashian, expressed discomfort over the way the case is unfolding, calling it a “circus” and suggesting that the public narrative has become increasingly bizarre and sensationalized.
Ray J questioned whether the lurid stories being shared—particularly about Diddy’s alleged “freak off” parties—truly equate to sex trafficking, saying the claims are starting to sound “outrageous.” He also cast doubt on the scope of the RICO case, suggesting it appears largely focused on Diddy and maybe one other person.
Referring to some of the more graphic court revelations, Ray J said the situation feels like a surreal “dominatrix story” with strange characters and disturbing allegations.
Though Ray J acknowledged that some of the content, including leaked videos, is “not okay” and deeply troubling—especially footage showing Diddy assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura—he also maintained that this version of Diddy doesn’t reflect the man he knew. He insisted Diddy had always inspired him and said the charges now feel excessive, possibly fueled by powerful interests.
Ray J argued that some of what’s being presented may involve consensual acts rather than criminal behavior, and expressed concern that Diddy may be unfairly targeted. “Do they want to see Puffy rot in jail?” he asked, adding that the entire case is starting to feel “diabolical.” Despite his criticism, he made it clear he condemns any form of abuse, saying, “There’s nothing about that Cassie video that was okay.”
Though he never attended or even heard of the so-called “freak offs,” Ray J admitted he partied with Diddy often, but said those events were exclusive and never involved such terminology or activities.
Wrapping up his remarks, Ray J said he believes Diddy will ultimately walk free, calling for his release: “Free Diddy.”
