The trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs continued Friday in Manhattan federal court, with “Jane,” a pseudonym for an alleged victim and former girlfriend, returning to testify in the high-profile sex trafficking case.
Jane’s testimony over the past two days has closely mirrored that of Cassie Ventura, another ex-girlfriend and alleged victim. Jane described how she fell deeply for Combs early in their relationship, but by 2021 it had shifted into drug-fueled sexual encounters she called “hotel nights,” which she felt pressured to participate in to please Combs. Despite their breakup and Combs’s arrest last September, she revealed that he is still paying her rent.
Jane’s attorney told the judge that attempts by social media users and media outlets to reveal her identity threaten her privacy and safety. The judge asked for specifics about who is attempting to out her and said he might consider a gag order if necessary.
Prosecutors allege that Combs abused and coerced women into extended sexual encounters known as “freak offs” and used his influence, along with violence and arson, to cover up his crimes.
The 55-year-old mogul faces five criminal charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion. Combs has pleaded not guilty and faces potential life imprisonment if convicted.
Jane testified that in March 2023, she and Combs agreed to a two-year “love contract” under which he would pay her a $10,000 monthly allowance, which she used for rent. She confirmed Combs continues to pay her rent.
Jane said she repeatedly told Combs she did not want to have sex with other men, but because he controlled her finances, she felt obligated to take part. She said she resorted to drugs to cope during these “hotel nights,” explaining that without them, the reality felt too harsh.
Jane tearfully recalled being forced to have sex with multiple men on her birthday in Miami, despite telling Combs she no longer wanted to participate in “hotel nights.” She described feeling robotic as the encounters went on into the early morning while Combs watched. She said the longest “hotel night” lasted about three and a half days, with the shortest lasting 12 hours, during which she stayed awake on ecstasy.
Jane detailed health problems from the encounters, including chronic back pain and frequent infections, and said she was pushed to engage in sex acts before recovering. She testified that Combs recorded these “hotel nights” on his phone “just for him,” often while she was high.
Jane also explained that Combs kept cash in hotel rooms to pay male entertainers involved in these encounters and would call staff to bring more cash when it ran out. She revealed that on two occasions, she transported drugs across state lines for Combs in her luggage, despite feeling uncomfortable. Combs’s chief of staff reportedly assured her it was common.
Prosecutors are using Jane’s testimony to argue that what began as a romantic relationship became one marked by coercion, forced sexual acts, and drug trafficking.
They aim to prove the alleged victims were compelled to engage in acts they would not have otherwise consented to.
