Theresa Nist of The Golden Bachelor is clearing the air after Gerry Turner, her ex-husband, suggested their short-lived marriage ended due to his cancer diagnosis.
On the June 5 episode of The Almost Famous Podcast, Nist firmly denied the claim, saying his illness played “zero” role in their breakup. She said she had been aware of Turner’s diagnosis for quite some time and that he had brushed it off, telling her his doctor believed it wouldn’t be life-threatening.
According to Nist, they never discussed his health as a reason for splitting up, and if Turner believed that, it was something he assumed on his own.
She also pointed to her past, recalling how she remained by her late husband Billy’s side during his battle with illness, insisting she would never walk away from a partner over health issues.
Now dating someone new, Nist expressed happiness for Turner and his new relationship, noting their marriage simply didn’t work because they weren’t a good match.
The pair wed on live television in January 2024 but ended things just three months later, having never lived together.
