Kayode Kasum’s comedy-drama “Ajosepo” has secured the top spot in the Nigerian box office rankings, according to the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN).
The official report covering April 12, 2024, to April 18, 2024, reveals that “Ajosepo” has grossed a total of ₦79 million, with ₦51.9 million earned in its opening week alone.
The film explores the journey of Dapo and Tani (portrayed by Mike Afolarin and Tomike Adeoya), a young couple facing the challenges of preparing for their wedding amidst family tensions and revelations, resonating well with audiences.
Following closely in second place is “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire,” which earned ₦34.6 million in the past week and has accumulated ₦180 million overall. In third place is the Yoruba epic “Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju),” earning ₦34.2 million for the week and reaching a total of ₦217.2 million in earnings.
Another notable film highlighted in the report is “Saving Onome,” directed by Dimeji Ajibola, which earned ₦8.9 million in the previous week.
The storyline revolves around parents who take extraordinary measures to care for their ailing daughter, Onome.
The CEAN report also features “All is Fair in Love,” with a total earning of ₦131 million, “Insecure” at ₦28.7 million, and “Meeting Funmi’s Parents” with ₦36.4 million in box office revenue.
