Royal Caribbean Cruise Line has extended its cancellations of stops at Labadee, Haiti, a popular destination for its guests, citing ongoing safety concerns.
Guests booked for summer and early fall trips are being notified that their visits to Labadee have been canceled. Labadee, a private resort operated by Royal Caribbean, will not be included in upcoming itineraries.
This decision follows a previous announcement by Royal Caribbean to suspend visits to Labadee through the end of May.
Instead, affected sailings have been redirected to other destinations or allotted additional days at sea.
The cancellations impact several Royal Caribbean ships, including Adventure of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, and Symphony of the Seas.
The decision to suspend visits to Labadee was made in response to a U.S. State Department alert advising against travel to Haiti due to significant safety concerns.
Haiti currently holds a Level Four travel advisory, a category shared with countries such as Russia, Syria, and Burkina Faso, citing issues including kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and inadequate healthcare infrastructure.
Haiti shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic, which holds a Level 2 travel advisory, advising visitors to exercise increased caution when traveling there.
