Grammy-winning artist Wizkid has been unfollowed by Nigerian music executive Don Jazzy following a Twitter exchange where Wizkid mocked Don Jazzy by calling him an “influencer.”
The exchange began when rapper Ladipoe, signed to Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, commented on the state of Afrobeats, comparing it to the survival of Nigerian rappers amidst the “hip hop is dead” era.
A social media user then brought this conversation to Wizkid’s attention, suggesting Wizkid should address Ladipoe’s comments.
Instead of addressing Ladipoe directly, Wizkid made a comment mocking Don Jazzy, referring to him as an “influencer.”
This comment was perceived by many fans as disrespectful towards Don Jazzy, given his significant contributions to Afrobeats and his role as a respected label boss.
