The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, will be a public holiday in observance of this year’s Workers’ Day.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, according to a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Ndayako, on Tuesday.
Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of excellence, efficiency, and fairness in labor, echoing President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to promoting innovation, productivity, and inclusivity in workplaces.
The minister’s statement highlighted the government’s dedication to prioritizing safety and health in workplaces amid changing climates.
Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for workers to thrive and contribute to national development.
He acknowledged workers’ contributions and called for proactive measures to address the challenges of climate change, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices and policies that promote well-being in the workplace and uphold national values of integrity, diligence, and compassion.
The minister urged Nigerians to support the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and extended warm wishes to all workers for a happy celebration.
