The stepmother of DFL state Senator Nicole Mitchell has responded to an incident where her stepdaughter allegedly broke into her home last month.
Senator Mitchell was reportedly arrested in her stepmother Carol Mitchell’s basement.
Initially, she claimed she was retrieving her father’s ashes, but later said she was checking on a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease.
Carol Mitchell, aged 74, revealed she had been recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s but hadn’t informed the senator.
She described encountering Nicole dressed like a burglar at the foot of her bed.
Police reports confirm Nicole Mitchell was dressed in black at the time of her arrest and was carrying a flashlight with a black sock over it.
