Consumers purchasing tickets online for concerts, sporting events, and other live events in Minnesota will benefit from increased transparency and protection thanks to a new law signed by Gov. Tim Walz, known as the “Taylor Swift bill.”
This legislation, prompted by a legislator’s frustration over difficulties purchasing tickets to a Taylor Swift concert last summer, mandates that ticket sellers disclose all fees upfront.
Additionally, the law prohibits ticket resellers from selling more than one copy of a ticket, among other protective measures.
The law will come into effect on January 1, 2025, and will apply to live events held within Minnesota.
