Robert F. Kennedy Jr. revealed that doctors determined a dark spot on his brain scans was caused by a dead worm, as reported.
In a 2012 deposition related to divorce proceedings, the current presidential candidate shared that initially, clinicians suspected a tumor, but a doctor from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital later suggested the presence of a dead parasite in his brain, as per The New York Times.
Kennedy explained in the deposition that the doctor believed the spot on the scan “was caused by a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died.” His memory loss and mental fogginess led him to consult neurologists, but Kennedy now reports having recovered without any lasting effects from the parasite. Although uncertain of the parasite’s type or origin, he speculated it might have been contracted during a trip to South Asia.
