The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed CP Olatunji Disu, as the new Commissioner of Police for Rivers State Command. Disu formerly headed the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force. Disu replaces CP Nwonyi Emeka.
Emeka’s removal comes after some youths in the state protested and demanded his redeployment following reports that the state governor, Siminalaye Fubara was being threatened.
Egbetokun also approved the posting and redeployment of 14 Assistant Inspectors General of Police and 25 other police commissioners to various commands and formations.
The redeployments are with immediate effect.
Apart from Disu who was posted to Rivers State Command, others postings include CP Ahmed Abdullahi Tijani to Jigawa State and CP George Chijioke Chukwu to Benue State.
Others include CP Dan Shawulu to Niger Command, CP Usman Hayatu to GBS Command, CP Danjuma Aboki to IMS Command, CP Isyaku Muhammed to OSS Command.
