Sakhile Dube, a model from Bulawayo, has been crowned Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2024 after surpassing 17 other contestants in a competitive event held at the Hippodrome in Harare on Saturday. She takes over from the 2023 titleholder, Brooke Bruk.
As the winner, Dube was awarded a brand-new Mercedes Benz C200 2020 model, donated by Style by Minnie, the fashion line owned by Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga, wife of Zimbabwe’s Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga. The VP’s wife also serves as the Chairperson for the Miss Universe Zimbabwe pageant.
The finalists, Lisa Sibanda and Ruvimbo Njomboro, were named first and second princess, respectively.
The competition was particularly intense this year, leading to a decisive question and answer round among the top three finalists—Dube, Njomboro, and Sibanda—before the judges could determine the winner.
The judging panel included former first lady Grace Mugabe, former Miss Malaika Brita Masalethulini, Kevin The Wedding Planner, Taku Mhlanga, Hilda Mabo, and Miss South Africa 2002.
As Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2024, Dube will represent Zimbabwe at the Miss Universe pageant later this year in Mexico.
