The 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has relocated to a different palace in the ancient town.
Ado Bayero quietly returned to Kano in the early hours of Saturday after being dethroned by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He was dismissed along with other Emirs appointed by his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who ordered them to vacate their palaces within 48 hours and hand over to the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Following this, Governor Yusuf announced the reinstatement of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, who had been deposed by Ganduje in 2020. On Friday, Sanusi led the Jumuat prayers at Government House, Kano.
Early on Saturday, Ado Bayero was welcomed by a crowd of supporters upon his return to Kano. He then moved into the palace in Nassarawa, causing confusion.
Meanwhile, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II has taken over the Gidan Rumfa palace. Security agents have been deployed to both palaces.
