Federal prosecutors have accused Robert P. Burke, a retired four-star admiral and former second-highest-ranking officer in the Navy, of directing a government contract to a company in exchange for a job there.
The Justice Department announced that Burke, 62, from Coconut Creek, Fla., was arrested on charges related to a bribery scheme during his tenure commanding U.S. naval forces in Europe, Russia, and parts of Africa.
The prosecutors also arrested the co-chief executives of the company involved, Yongchul Kim (known as Charlie), 50, and Meghan Messenger, 47, both from New York. They were charged with participating in the alleged bribery scheme.
