Legendary Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku, in an interview with YouTuber Lucky Udu, addressed rumors about his mental state after a video of him in ragged clothes on the streets of Asaba went viral.
Anuku clarified that he was preparing for a role as a mad man in a movie and was immersing himself in the environment.
Regarding allegations of drug use, Anuku firmly stated that he does not use drugs.
He revealed that the viral video led to stigma, isolation from his immediate family, loss of friends, and a lack of job opportunities as producers stopped contacting him for roles. Consequently, he fell into depression due to stress from the situation.
Anuku passionately advised against spreading damaging rumors about people, emphasizing the negative impact such rumors can have on their lives.
