The Nigerian Government has approved Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18, 2024, as public holidays to observe this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, made this announcement in a statement released on Friday in Abuja, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized that these holidays are in honor of Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He urged the Muslim community to embrace the values of peace, kindness, and sacrifice during this period, and encouraged prayers for national unity, prosperity, and stability.
The minister assured Nigerians of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He called on all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to support the government’s efforts in economic diversification and recovery.
In conclusion, Dr. Tunji-Ojo wished the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-ul-Adha celebration and advised all Nigerians to take responsibility in ensuring a prosperous Nigeria for future generations.
